Shalonda was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Her passion for working with young children stemmed from a volunteer experience in high school, where she volunteered in a kindergarten class. She believed that providing children with a strong foundation and love of learning at an early age would greatly impact their futures.
She graduated from North Carolina A&T with a degree in Child Development and Family Studies/Education. She received her master’s degree from Mercer University in Higher Education Leadership. She has over 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher in grades ranging from Pre-K thru 3rd grade. She is currently teaching 3rd grade at an Atlanta Charter school as a Special Education Teacher.
Along with her many years of experience as an educator, Shalonda has worked in various leadership roles in educational settings, such as project manager, program coordinator, and PTA President. She has also worked as an Early Intervention Therapist with children with developmental delays from birth through three years old. Shalonda is strongly committed to ensuring students of all ages receive a quality educational experience and reach their fullest potential.
Shalonda has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2022.
