This 1-Day Intensive Bootcamp “Crash Course” is offered 1-2 weeks before the testing date. All sections of the ACT Test (English, Math, Reading and Science) or SAT (Reading & Writing and Math) will be covered during this 5-hour course.

Debra Longhi will provide detailed insights on what to expect on the ACT/SAT Test and teach/review key concepts likely to appear on the exam. Students will work through many official practice problems and learn effective test prep strategies.

Bootcamp Series (4 Two-Hour Classes)

The Bootcamp Series dives deeper into all sections of the ACT Test (English, Math, Reading and Science) or SAT (Reading & Writing and Math). Students meet weekly for 2-hour sessions over four weeks, allowing more time to digest, process, and practice the material.

Debra Longhi will provide detailed instruction on test expectations and teach concepts likely to appear on the ACT/SAT. Students will work through extensive official practice problems, applying the test prep strategies taught throughout the course.

What is the difference between the SAT and the ACT?

The SAT is now fully digital and adaptive, meaning your performance on the first set of questions determines the difficulty of subsequent ones. A calculator is now allowed throughout the entire Math section. The revised SAT features more concise questions, with shorter reading passages replacing lengthy ones. Each reading passage now ties to a single question, rather than multiple.
In contrast, the ACT remains primarily paper-and-pencil-based, with its digital format identical to the traditional version. While ACT questions are generally easier, the reduced time per question can make it more challenging for some students.
The SAT is slightly shorter than the ACT, lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes compared to the ACT’s 2 hours and 55 minutes (excluding the essay). Both tests cover arithmetic, Algebra I and II, geometry, and trigonometry. However, the SAT includes data analysis, while the ACT focuses on probability and statistics.

Which test (SAT/ACT) should I take?

Several factors can help you determine which test you should take. For example, if you prefer having more time to answer questions, the SAT provides more time per question than the ACT. Comparatively, the ACT is more time-intensive, moving at a quicker pace than the SAT.
While both the SAT and ACT cover similar math topics, the ACT involves slightly more complex and broader math topics, with a higher concentration of geometry questions, logarithms, matrices, and trigonometry.
The SAT is not harder than the ACT. Both tests vary slightly in terms of subjects covered and structure. These variations can affect each test taker differently, making one exam more challenging than the other.
